I love Mkuze Falls Private game reserve. In 2008, our first trip there was too short. Courtesy of a measly ‘buck-back-bonus’, we were able to spend a night in  5-star luxury accommodation, waited on hand and foot. It was so memorable, that we spent a few years saving to enable a return trip (2 nights this time…). Yes, a few years saving – you need deep pockets for this, and  [ Read More ]

Good Morning!

morning

Saw a fantastic rainbow on the way to work this morning and had to take a pic. As I got closer to the bottom ‘Twini Hill, the rainbow seemed to grow bigger and thicker, with it’s base seeming to end at the recycling depot. Mmm. Pot ‘o gold at the bottom of the rainbow. Game 45 – Brazil/Portugal – Durban

A disappointing 0-0 draw between these stalwarts of the game. What rescued the situation was an atmosphere so thick ‘n chunky that you could almost walk on it. A Mexican wave in a sea of colour did the rounds, spurred on by vuvuzelas and cheering. It seems that fans have mastered these simple instruments, and managed to get , er, artistic (?) with them. Besides the usual Blaaarp, groups of  [ Read More ]

Game 25 – Netherlands / Japan

First time to Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durbs. It puts Kings Park to shame, me thinks. Seeing the stadium on screen isn’t quite the same as actually being there, surrounded by thousands of fans and the swarming buzz of the vuvuzelas. At one point, the guy next to me, who, I must admit, looked to have a good few beers under the belt, was actually nodding off to the white  [ Read More ]
